Linux Systems Administrator

Are you a system administrator who is hungry to continually learn new skills? Would you like to join a small and agile organisation working on cutting edge projects?
We are a dynamic and growing Cloud Services business. The company has been established for over 17 years and in the last five years we have developed our own Cloud Platform and now are the sole Cloud suppliers to a British Overseas Territory. A vacancy has arisen for a Linux Systems Administrator in our fast-paced and growing IT company in Newbury, Berkshire. The growth of the business means that a confident, pro-active Linux sysadmin is required to build, automate, and deploy our cloud platform, and keep our systems running smoothly.
Personal Requirements

  • Someone who is intelligent and bright with lots of initiative and who is incredibly proactive.

  • Someone who is a natural problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
  • Someone who is happy to take responsibility and see projects through to a successful conclusion.

Key Skills – Essential

  • Linux – Strong experience in the administration and troubleshooting of CentOS and Ubuntu
  • Networking – Good understanding of networking (LAN, WAN), background with Cisco or Juniper networking equipment

Key Skills – Desirable

  • SaltStack – using and creating formulas
  • VMWare – Administration
  • KVM / Libvirt
  • Open Source monitoring tools, eg. Nagios / ELK / Cacti / Prometheus
  • Python or Bash scripting skills
  • Docker / Kubernetes

Day to Day Activities

  • Troubleshooting various networking / Linux issues
  • Being an escalation point for customer issues
  • Refining our cloud deployment and planning for future upgrades
  • Building and maintaining our internal infrastructure
  • Creating documentation when required
  • Liaising with various partners / vendors to get issues resolved

Occasional Activities

  • Visiting one of our data centres to rack up new servers or perform networking upgrades

It is most important that the successful candidate has an excellent Linux system administration background, is a great communicator, loves learning, has a desire to gain the skills needed and relishes the challenge of working with cutting edge technology in a small team.
The role will be full time, Monday to Friday 9AM to 5.30PM. You will have opportunities to learn and develop a long-term and rewarding career while working with a great team.

CLOUD PLATFORM ENGINEER

Are you a Linux or system engineer or developer who is hungry to continually learn new skills? Would you like to join a small and agile organisation working on cutting edge projects?

100 Percent IT is a dynamic and growing Cloud Services business based in Newbury, Berkshire.  The company has been established for over 17 years and in the last five years we have developed our own Cloud Platform based on OpenStack and now are the sole Cloud suppliers to a British Overseas Territory.  Our Cloud Platform is further enhanced by our patented Secure Trusted Computing technology developed with the University of Oxford.  Working with the developers the Cloud Platform Engineer will be responsible for integrating this new technology into the existing Cloud Platform and greatly enhancing the solutions we can offer our growing customer base.  You will report directly to the Managing Director.

You will be a self-starter who enjoys full autonomy to develop yourself and the technologies you use, enjoys collaboration and learning, and taking a project, designing it, and delivering it to a high standard.

You will define and deliver cloud architectures with a focus on automation, designing and delivering cloud services in an agile, scalable manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and support secure, performant and scalable cloud platforms
  • Design and build awesome new features to support our customers
  • Develop and build code to maintain production systems
  • Be excited to work with Open Source technologies and become part of the Open Source community

Essential Requirements:

  • Either Infrastructure, Operations or Software Engineering experience, whichever it is you must have an interest in the others and want to learn!
  • Experience and interest in working within a fast-paced agile delivery environment
  • Strong experience of Linux (any distribution) Operating Systems
  • Intermediate Python would be ideal OR knowledge of cloud technologies (OpenStack)
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration, Deployment and pipelines (CI/CD/TDD)
  • Great communications skills
  • Evidence of your desire to learn and ability to work autonomously
  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience of working with OpenStack based platforms
  • Experience working with a container orchestration platform such as Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as SaltStack or Ansible
  • Proven track record of implementing cloud services and environments using automation technologies
  • Experience of Software Driven Networking platforms such as OpenContrail
  • Experience in contributing to Open Source projects
  • Experience in designing, implementing, operating and troubleshooting IP-based data networks (LAN/WAN)
  • Ability to lead and oversee technical aspects of deploying new infrastructure or executing platform upgrades/enhancements in a production environment. Designing and implementing benchmarks to test performance of new servers and configuration settings.

PRODUCT MARKETING MANAGER

100 Percent IT is looking for a Product Marketing Manager to launch our new cloud platform and cyber security technology. This will include rebranding, research, both qualitative and quantitative, defining positioning and informing pricing and packaging strategies for this exciting new product.

You’ll have a lot of freedom in this senior marketing role as you’ll have to identify where to spend your time and marketing efforts, based on the insights you feed into the company from your analysis and research.

From your research, customer and market data, you will develop positioning and core propositions for your key audiences. You’ll recommend a marketing strategy that could include pricing and packaging and will certainly include clear objectives and key results. Equally, you’ll work closely with the development team to influence product direction early on, feeding your marketing findings into the product strategy.

You’ll share your learning of the customers, competitors and the market with people across marketing, sales, and engineering to ensure our position is clearly articulated through everything we do. You’ll act as the voice of the customer for your area and know your markets like no other. You’ll be data driven and have the ability to combine this with your experience to derive action.

From your strategy, you’ll set the plan for the product marketing, involving and collaborating across the organisation and with our chosen external marketing agency. You’ll know when to involve stakeholders and be able to take input from other areas of the business. However, it’ll be up to you to set the direction for your area, put in place a targeted set of activities to address the opportunities you identify, and to deliver against your targets. This will involve being hands on in writing and promoting content, running events, engaging influencers, and working with others to ensure press coverage, media placements, and search campaigns are all pushing the right message to the right people..

SOFTWARE ENGINEER / PYTHON DEVELOPER

HEAD OF SALES

100 Percent IT is looking for a Head of Sales to drive sales growth and help launch our new cloud platform and cyber security technology. This will include rebranding, research, both qualitative and quantitative, defining positioning and informing pricing and packaging strategies for this exciting new product.

The role:

As a quota-carrying Account Executive, you’ll be responsible for driving new sales. As we grow, you will work closely with the Directors to build a world-class sales team.

With our cutting edge cyber security solution, you will help us to grow and become the leading brand in our space. As a well-respected thought leader, you’ll act as a guide and strategic partner to new customers. You’ll become intimately knowledgeable about their key business challenges, and tailor insights that challenge their status quo in line with increasing database development pressures.

You’ll directly manage all aspects of the sales process including lead management, business proposals, qualification, evaluation, closing, and account care. In many cases, you’ll work with a variety of disciplines across the business to achieve your goals; bringing in help from the technical team and marketing to ensure success.
